Breaking news. No, seriously.

I don't think many know about this going on in the Netherlands, but since November last year one of our politicians was making a movie about the Islam, called FITNA, and it was greatly feared that when it was done, the Islamic world might terrorise our country.

Quote from the Wikipedia article:

"Reaction prior to the release of the movie
It is feared that the film will lead to violent demonstrations such as the protests against the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons that were published in the Danish newspaper 'Jyllands-Posten' in 2005. This previous Muslim violence resulted in the burning of the Danish embassy in Syria and other acts of violence around the world, including the murder of a Catholic nun and people from several different religions, including Muslims."

We've already seen protests in Iraq, people on the streets burning the dutch flag and chanting "Death to Holland". Now the movie is released we will have to wait what happens. Appearantly the movie is much lighter than it was generally expected to be. So that's a good thing atleast..

Judge yourself and view the movie below if you want. NOT for the faint hearted! There were parts even I found extremely hard to look at/listen to.
(video buffer might be slow due high demand)

Most of what I got out of the video and what you described I have already told you. Blanketing an entire religion based on extremism seems very propagandistic- The same thing could be said for any religion, if they were in a position of power and rule.

At the same time the extremists of any religion set a very bad example for the entire population of that religion, and while sad, it is up to the faithful to reform the peace.

Actually, recently a blogger from Saudi-Arabia made a short movie similar to Fitna focusing on Christianity and the Bible, quoting from it, to show how easy it is to pull things out of context! *will link over IM*
